Reports in the media suggest that Ajax have a keen interest in signing Hamburger centre-back before the transfer window closes in 2 weeks.
The Amsterdam giants are in the market for a central defender after selling their star player and captain, Jan Vertonghen, to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.
Rajkovic, who has been playing Germany at Hamburger SV since the summer of 2011, has been performing consistently for the past couple of seasons.
The 23-year-old is regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Serbia, and has already represented his national side in 13 matches.
In Rajkovic, who has thus far played over 100 matches since making his professional football debut in the 2004/05 season, has an ongoing contract at Imtech Arena that runs until the end of the 2014/15 season.
Reports confirm that the Hamburger SV management do not want to let go of their star player in the ongoing summer transfer window. However, an offer in the region of 3 million Euros could tempt the German club to sell their prized asset this summer.
We all know that Ajax need to replace Jan Vertonghen with some experience at the back of the defence especially with crucial matches coming up in the Champions League and the defence of the Dutch League Title.
We will have to see how this develops but with the experience of playing in the Eredivisie this is surely a benefit of knowing what the league is all about.
