The transfer of Theo Janssen to Vitesse is almost complete, after the two clubs finally came to an agreement. Janssen made it clear Thursday that he wanted to return to his hometown club in Arnhem. Ajax boss Frank de Boer has left Janssen out of the squad for the game against NAC, while the finer details are completed. It looks like he has played and scored in his last game for Ajax against NEC.
Theo Janssen joined Ajax last year from FC Twente for 3.2 million euros and signed a two year contract with an option for an additional year. The midfielder played 31 league matches last season and scored 9 goals and won the title.
There was criticism of his performances last year, and from talks this summer Frank de Boer couldn’t guaranteed Janssen a starting place in the team so Janssen ask to leave to gain regular first team football.
Janssen is returning to Vitesse Arnhem where he previously made 206 appearances and scoring 21 goals in a 10 year period.
So it looks like we have seen Theo Janssen for the last time last Sunday, so I would like to say good luck Theo and enjoy your time back in your hometown. All the Best!!!.
