Ajax will be without striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson for the match against NAC Breda on Saturday night. The Icelander played and scored in the first league game of the season against AZ Alkmaar and admitted after the game that he wasn’t 100% fit.
The next match against NEC last Sunday which ended in a easy 6-1 win for Ajax, saw Sigthorssen sit on the bench for the whole match.
Ajax Captain Siem de Jong will have to lead the attack on Saturday; De Jong played as the striker last Sunday and scored.
Sigthorssen is no stranger to injury, he signed for Ajax last season from AZ for 4.5 million euro’s and started the season in fine form scoring 4 golas in for matches. In October 2011, he fractured his ankle which ruled him out for most of the season.
He did return for Ajax in April 2012, coming off the bench to score the last goal in a 6-0 win over Heracles Almelo.
On April 22nd he scored the second goal at home in a 2-0 win over FC Groningen, a result which looked to have secured Ajax’s 31st League Title.
