SC Heerenveen 2 Ajax 2

Ajax drew 2-2 at Heerenveen after South African forward Thulani Serero went from hero to villain.

Serero (13, 47) had struck twice either side of goals from Heerenveen’s Alfred Finnbogason (30, 45) before he was sent off on 53 minutes.

The challenge was from behind and late, Serero got a straight red card, in my own opinion I thought it was a bit harsh and many players seemed surprised with the Ref’s decision.

The match was end to end action, with some entertaining attacking and wild defending.

Ajax looked to be in control until the red card, with 10 men Ajax played their way to a draw and did have a couple of opportunities to grab all three points.

Ajax coach Frank de Boer spoke after the game “we should be happy with one point, but we gave away far too many opportunities”. “Every time we had a good chance, Heerenveen came right back with a big opportunity, too. For the impartial spectator it must have been a spectacular match, sometimes wild, but we need to be tougher and we need to win the duels around the box. Now we lost possession too often, and that wasn’t necessary.

Here are the goals below, Enjoy!
