Hamburg defender Slobodan Rajkovic turned down a loan move during the transfer window from Ajax despite being told he will not feature for the German club again, general manager Frank Arnesen has revealed.
Rajkovic is under contract with Hamburg until 2015 but has been told he is surplus to requirements at the Bundesliga outfit.
The former Chelsea youngster has fallen out of favour with coach Thorsten Fink after he was involved in a training ground bust-up with South Korean forward Heun-min Son over the summer and was banned over the incident.
Ajax reportedly approached the club in the final days of the transfer window looking to temporarily sign the 23-year-old Serbia international but Rajkovic refused to go out on loan, according to Arnesen.
He told the Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper: “Slobodan Rajkovic told me he does not want to have any more loan spells. He does not fancy it and does not want his family to have to go through it.
“I have told him that he has to completely understand that he will not return to play for Hamburger SV again.”
