Ajax Beat FC Twente 1-0

After the mid-week win my attention quickly turned to Saturday evening – the big Ajax home game against FC Twente who were currently unbeaten and top of the league.

In front of nearly 51,000 supporters we were all thinking Ajax need to win this game. However, the pressure was on Ajax to shorten the lead between FC Twente by three points.

The game itself was very close with Ajax playing to win, whereas FC Twente played with a more negative approach – personally I think they were looking for a point.

Just before half-time Niklas Moisander had a good chance to make it 1-0 but his shot flashed past the wrong side of the post.

The crucial part of the game came in the second half when Christian Eriksen struck the only goal for Ajaxin the 68th minute. A shot from outside the box was too powerful and flew into the bottom corner.

The players all celebrated with Eriksen who was voted man of the match.

The Amsterdam Arena erupted and the majority of fans had a sigh of relief that Ajax were winning.

The support was tremendous as always. Whatever the score – win, lose or draw, the fans never stop believing there is no stopping this club.

The next match is against Real Madrid which should be an entertaining game.
