The Belgian international has developed into one of the best wingers in Dutch Eredivisie over the years and he looks set to leave the Tukkers in the summer.
Chadli has just over a year left on his deal at De Grolsch Veste and club chiefs have no choice but to cash in on him at the end of the current campaign otherwise Chadli can walk free next season.
The 23-year-old has a long list of admirers, including Juventus and Borussia Dortmund, but Ajax seem to be keen as well.
“We are interested. That’s right. Chadli would fit in well with us,” Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars confessed to De Telegraaf.
Ajax look set to lose some star names like Siem de Jong and Christian Eriksen, who have interest from other clubs in Europe, meaning Ajax will need strengthen in the attacking positions.
Nacer Chadli has done well since joining FC Twente from AGOVV in 2010, managing 24 goals in 82 Eredivisie appearances for the Tukkers.
