The 22 year old has spent two seasons in Italy with Roma and AC Milan, Bojan appeared to be very close to securing a loan-deal with Real Betis, but the club has decided to send the La Masia graduate to Holland to further his development.
Ajax Sporting Director, Marc Overmars met with Bojan and his father and agent, Ramon Sostres in Barcelona on Friday, where following a meeting, the player decided it would be in his best interest to join the Dutch champions.
Upon the agreement with the player, Overmars then met with the Barcelona front office and the two sides quickly reached a deal, where Ajax would pick up Bojan’s entire salary for the entire season, thus relieving Barcelona of any financial burden.
It is unknown at this time if Ajax have an option to purchase next summer.
Bojan has played for Barcelona, Roma and AC Milan so far in his career scoring 36 goals in 156 appearances.
